squid nuggets

DSC02622

Right next to the chicken nuggets in the freezer at my local grocery store is a stack of bags filled with squid nuggets.  Glad they have the nice picture of the squid and the English name of the food on the outside of the package!!  Oh so glad!  Otherwise, these could very easily be mistaken for what they are not--chicken.

  1. Actually . . . looking at the little guy now, he looks more like an octupus.
Squid really doesn't taste that bad--just kinda chewy. So, I imagine squid nuggets being very, very rubbery. No thank you.
Here is how I prefer my squid--on a stick:

  2. I must say, squid on a stick certainly looks more exciting than said "squid nuggets." I'm curious though, would squid nuggets be similar to calamari?? I must say, I'm intrigued...

  4. I like calamari, isn't that just a nice italian name for squid. I'd give 'em a try.

  5. Yes, calamari is just a fancy name for squid.
Lauren, come visit me and we'll skip the frozen asile and I'll just take you to the night market for some hot of the grill squid (see pic in link below), OK?
